Byt og Flyt was born out of personal frustration. As a tenant in Copenhagen, I tried the existing housing swap platforms — and none of them solved the problem satisfactorily. Matching was primitive, user interfaces were outdated, and prices were surprisingly high for what you got. Many charge 100-200 DKK per month without offering basic features like two-way matching or circular swaps.
With an education in user-centered design from DTU, I decided to build the platform I was missing. The goal is simple: to create the best housing swap platform for rentals in Denmark, and make it so affordable that everyone can participate — without feeling they're paying too much. That's why the core features are free, and Premium costs 49 DKK/month, despite offering better features than platforms charging 3-4 times as much.
According to the Danish Ministry of Housing, over 200,000 Danes are on waiting lists for social housing. Housing swaps are a statutory right that can solve this problem — but only if there's a platform that makes it easy, safe, and accessible. That's what Byt og Flyt is.
